What types of dialysis treatments is Tablo used for?

Tablo is a true enterprise solution that can be used from the ICU to the clinic to the home. Treatments must be administered under a physician’s prescription and observed by a trained individual who is competent in the device's use. Available treatment types include Intermittent Hemodialysis (IHD), Sustained Low Efficiency Dialysis (SLED/SLEDD), Prolonged Intermittent Renal Replacement Therapy (PIRRT), and Isolated Ultrafiltration. The device is not indicated for continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) and is cleared for use up to 24 hours. The dialysate generated by this device is not sterile and should not be used for intravenous (IV) infusion.

What kind of training is involved? How long does it take?

Patients and care partners are typically able to learn all device-related activities to start using Tablo at home in less than 4 training sessions, or about 2 weeks. During the training, the patient and care partner will learn how to operate the Tablo system, monitor vital signs, administer medication, master aseptic technique, perform machine maintenance and troubleshoot emergency situations. The clinic will conduct training, and determine when a patient is ready to start treating at home.
