My first impressions so far, working at Outset Medical, have been that I've been able to bridge my academic path to a professional career. I have been able to work with high performing teams in order to see what creates a great environment for achieving goals, and doing it together. It has allowed me to also learn how organizations organize themselves and I am getting introduced to all the different components it takes to run a business. A huge component is the people working in the industry and the people you are working with. Stacey Porter has been my guide and manager in this new internship, teaching me a lot about what it takes to make sure a business is running at full throttle, whilst making sure everyone has a smile on their face. On top of this, I have been able to experience a different type of culture. Meeting new people and experiencing new things has really opened up my eyes to not only new experiences but also a bright future. And I realize that culture really matters, it's not only what a company does, but it's how it creates a sense of place for people to perform on their own and together.
